Peran Pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam dalam Meningkatkan Toleransi Beragama di Sekolah Multikultural

Intolerance remains evident in school environments, both through verbal expressions and attitudes that show a lack of respect for religious diversity. This condition highlights the crucial role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in instilling religious tolerance values among students. This study aims to describe the role of PAI learning in enhancing students’ tolerance at SMP Angkasa Lanud Husein Sastranegara Bandung. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed thematically using data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that PAI learning plays a significant role in shaping students’ moderate character and appreciation of diversity. Tolerance values are integrated through teacher modeling, dialogical learning methods, and inclusive religious activities. Furthermore, PAI learning fosters a harmonious school climate and strengthens students’ awareness of peaceful coexistence amid differences. This study confirms that Islamic education serves as a strategic instrument in cultivating a culture of tolerance within multicultural schools.
