Abstract

This study discusses the strategies of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers in enhancing the emotional intelligence of passive students through the MTs Smart program at MTs Nurul Falah Cimahi. The research is motivated by the importance of emotional intelligence in students’ academic and social success, especially for passive students who tend to be quiet, lack self-confidence, and face difficulties in social interaction. The study aims to describe the strategies employed by PAI teachers to develop the emotional intelligence of passive students through the MTs Smart program, explain the implementation results, and identify supporting and inhibiting factors influencing the process. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that PAI teachers’ strategies include the habituation of Islamic values, role modeling, motivation, personal guidance, and positive reinforcement through Qur’an reading activities before lessons begin. These strategies have been proven to enhance students’ self-awareness, emotional control, empathy, learning motivation, and social skills. Supporting factors include the principal’s support, teacher collaboration, parental involvement, and the school’s religious environment, while obstacles include students’ emotional instability and low internal motivation. The study concludes that the MTs Smart program is an effective strategy for developing the emotional intelligence of passive students and can serve as a model for Islamic character education in faith-based schools.
